Michigan Ave & The Magnificent Mile Tour
The Magnificent Mile – a name that conjures up images of dazzling skyscrapers, colorful window displays, and shopping of all kinds! Come along with us as we tour the heart of Chicago, from the Chicago River up through the famed Michigan Avenue.

Your tour starts at one of the most recognizable Chicago landmarks – under the glittering marquee of the Chicago Theatre. Heading out from the theatre, you’ll walk along the picturesque Chicago River, following part of the RiverWalk and enjoying breathtaking views of Chicago’s famous high-rise architecture – featuring the Wrigley Building and Chicago Tribune Building. You’ll then cross over the historic DuSable bridge and into the heart of Michigan Ave.
With your guide, discover the functioning and bustling activity underneath the street. Get to know the heartbeat of Michigan Ave., and perhaps meet some of the people responsible for creating the glowing image of the Magnificent Mile. Heading back to street-level, you’ll arrive at one of the historic properties to enjoy some gorgeous architectural gems inside one of the towering facades.
Next, we’ll explore the famous retail culture of The Magnificent Mile with a chance to explore one of the many flagship stores along this shopping mecca. Sports culture also takes center stage on this street, as your guide will share some of Chicago’s greatest sports stories and icons here.
You’ll then make your way to some fascinating historical sites – including a water tower that dates from the 1860s and a working firehouse that was built in 1904! Amazingly, these utilities still play a role in Chicago’s day-to-day, just more examples of the city’s maintained connection to its past.
After taking in some more of the sights, end your tour in the heart of the hustle-and-bustle of The Magnificent Mile. Your guide will be more than happy to give you directions, as well as recommendations for happy hour bars, restaurants to grab dinner nearby, or other places to check out around town.
